What is Colon Cleansing Good For

Healthier Post answers the question: “What is Colon Cleansing Good For?”

Colon 300x281 What is Colon Cleansing Good ForSomeone asked me the other day, “What is colon cleansing good for?” The question was an interesting one, as it got me thinking, “Why do people go through the horrible flushing diets that cause them to spend hours sitting on the toilet?” The idea of starving myself just to flush stuff out of my colon didn’t appeal to me at all, so I spent some time looking into the reasons that colon cleansing may or may not be a good idea. What I found shocked and surprised me…

What is Colon Cleansing Good For: Eliminating Toxins

The concept of “toxins” building up in the body is a fairly new one, but it is one that has become hugely popular with the health-conscious and naïve internet generation. People will read all about how “toxins will kill you”, and they’re instantly worried about these things. The truth is, toxins are not as dangerous as you might think, but they can cause problems.

The word “toxin” basically means anything that will harm your body, usually a substance that is poisonous or harmful. However, when health and diet websites talk about “toxins”, they’re usually talking about chemicals in your body. The human body isn’t able to process the chemicals that are in foods, medications, and cosmetics, and so they just kind of float around the body uselessly seeing as they cannot be used. There is a chance that the toxins can cause problems, and they slow down your body. For this reason, “eliminating toxins” has become a hugely popular concept.

That’s one of the reasons for colon cleansing. Experts on the digestive system will tell you that a buildup of fecal matter in the intestines can cause all manner of problems, not the least of which is an accumulation of toxins in the system. All of the toxins that your body is trying to expel go through the intestines, and they end up clinging to the waste matter that is stuck to your intestinal walls.

The purpose of colon cleansing is basically to flush all of the junk out of the intestines. This will in turn free up your body to deal with other problems, as there is nothing lodged in your colon that is causing problems. The waste matter that was causing more toxins to be absorbed into your body will have been expelled, and your body will be free to work properly again. This is believed to deal with headaches, fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and other side effects from the toxins.

Colon cleansing is also used as a remedy to deal with other problems, usually problems related to the buildup of toxins in the liver and kidneys. However, the real benefit comes from the fact that there is nothing straining the nervous system. Constipation doesn’t just affect your elimination process, but it’s fairly hard on your nerves as well. Your bowel reflexes affect your central nervous system, so flushing the junk out of your bowels will help your body to work better.

What is Colon Cleansing Good For: Is it Dangerous?

This is a question that many people have, and it’s actually a very good one. Let’s take a look at a few of the good things of colon cleansing:

  • It flushes your body — You will feel a lot lighter after a good colon cleanse, as you no doubt have a few pounds of waste material clogging up your intestines. You may notice that you feel a lot better, and it’s thanks to the relief for your central nervous system.
  • It balances your diet — If you are eating a lot of artificial and chemically-enhanced food, colon cleansing can help you to change your diet habits. If you do a colon cleanse in which you eat only certain foods and liquids, it will reset your eating habits and desires.
  • It can promote weight loss — Flushing your colon isn’t going to make you lose weight, but it will help to reduce the strain on your body. If  you’re fatigued and stressed, flushing out your system will make it easier for you to get into your exercise without feeling exhausted and fatigued.

So, these are the good things about colon cleansing, but what are some of the downsides?

  • It eliminates beneficial bacteria — Your intestines are home to bacteria, which are needed in order to break down the food to be absorbed. When you flush your colon, you’re basically killing off the bacteria. It takes a while for them to recolonize the intestines, during which time you’re much more susceptible to infections.
  • It can throw off your metabolism — If you do a 10-day cleanse, you will probably consume little more than liquids. This can slow down your metabolism, and you may find that your attempts to lose weight are actually stymied rather than helped.
  • It can cause side effects — Many people experience negative side effects when doing the colon cleanse. This includes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness, which usually are the result of a lack of nourishment – common during colon cleansing. Some people have used enemas to flush out their colons, and the plastic tubing has actually damaged the lining of their intestines. It is not uncommon for infections to break out, and some people have found that the cleanse interferes with their medication.

The colon cleanse has its place, which is why colonic irrigation is such a popular treatment. If you have kidney, liver, or bowel problems, it may be a good idea to flush out your colon. For those who are just trying to lose weight or get rid of toxins, you may not want to go the route of flushing.

Better than a flush, eating fiber is the way to go. You will find that eating a lot of fiber will soften the stool in your intestines, helping your body to get rid of it naturally. This will be the best way to improve your intestinal health.

Now, you know the answer to the question, “What is colon cleansing good for?”

Cleaning is great for your health. It’s best to do something like a 7 day cleanse that is safe for your body. There is a really good one that they sell on this site- 7 day cleanse. I tried it and it helped me clear out the toxins gentley and safely and I felt refreshed after I did it.

I just tried this cleanse for the fist time and it worked pretty good. I went 2 times a day which is more than my normal of once or none a day. I did it for a week and I feel less tired. Also lost 5 pounds so that’s a plus :)
