Best Way To Quit Smoking

Be A Quitter That’s The Best Way To Quit Smoking!

quit smoking 300x199 Best Way To Quit Smoking

Once you have that determination within you it is time to get on with breaking the habit. There are various aids and tools available on the market with varying levels of success.

Are there any smokers out there that have not heard the horror stories about the terrible and sometimes fatal dangers of smoking?  Many have seen the photographs depicting the awful condition of a smoker’s lung and heard that the patient died due to their smoking habit.  This is all very well and good and pretty much all smokers would agree that it is all very alarming and frightening.  But instead of reacting with determination to quit the habit many continue.  The only thing they really got from the above mentioned scare tactics was a really good scare.  The irony of the situation is that now they feel even more stressed out.

Some smokers are persuaded by the information they receive or for other reasons to kick the habit once and for all.  Being determined is the most important factor if you are going to successfully defeat the addiction’s hold on your life and future.  If you do manage to quit the chances are not in your favor of staying smoke free.  Any successful addiction program depends on the person concerned being 100% committed to kicking their habit.  If they are not 100% committed no program, however good, will work.

Once you have that determination within you it is time to get on with breaking the habit.  There are various aids and tools available on the market with varying levels of success.  Some people claim these products are effective while others state the opposite is true.  Of course you need to consider whether or not the products have any harmful side effects of their own and your position on this.  For instance there are electronic cigarettes these days that claim to be effective in helping to ease the effects of withdrawal, namely the cravings, so that the smoker is able to quit the habit.  Unfortunately the efficacy of this product is still in question and there have been studies conducted that question the safety of the vapor that is inhaled.

Some people choose other more health conscious means of breaking their habit and these are ones that seem to have the highest success rate.  The following is a good example of how one can quit the habit while keeping it natural.

Step 1.       Exercise and Diet

Get involved with an exercise program and also review your diet to make sure that you are eating nutritional and balanced meals.  Of course, if you have any other health issues it goes without saying that you should consult with your doctor or dietitian about any new exercise programs and diets you are interested in.  The benefits for the smoker besides getting healthier are that they will find they have more energy and exercising also helps to lower our stress levels.

Step 2.       Identify the Craving

It is important to determine when the cravings really hit you the hardest.  For example you could find that in stressful situations you tend to smoke more than usual.  You might find that in any type of social situation the same is true.  Perhaps that after-dinner-puff is the one that you really cannot do without.  These would all be triggers and you need to identify yours in order to be prepared for them.

Step 3.       Combat the Cravings

When it comes to handling the cravings there are some things you should bear in mind to help you get through them:

  • Deep breathing – slow and rhythmic will help to relax you
  • Exercise – do squats or lunges, anything that will get you moving
  • Distraction – keep busy and active
  • Control – Remember that a craving will last between 3 and 5 minutes, that’s all!

Step 4.       Stumbling Blocks

If you have ever tried to quit smoking in the past and failed it was probably due to a stumbling block that set you back because you did not have the determination and commitment we discussed earlier.  If you know what made you stumble on your path to a smoke free life it will help you to avoid making the same mistake twice.

Step 5.       Positive Thinking

Remember that you are not alone on this journey.  Many people all around the world quit smoking every single day.  Remind yourself that you are not alone and if they can do it so can you.  Tell yourself that every craving that you withstand is one less craving you have to face.  You are getting closer and closer to the day when the cravings no longer bother you.  The longer you have withstood them the more work you have put in that will simply be undone and rendered worthless if you give in and light up.

Best Way To Quit Smoking Is To Begin Immediately

Set a quit date a week in advance because you need this time to prepare and practice.  Once you have determined the date you need to begin preparing yourself.  During the first 2 days you need to figure out 3 things:

1.  Why you want a cigarette when you want one?

2. Can you deny the need?

3. If you do not have the cigarette what could you do instead?

Your very first step is to decide on a quit date.  Choose a date about a week away as this will enable you to practice with the tools you have at your disposal.  Make up your mind to quit 8 days from today and tell yourself that will be the day you end your habit once and for all.  On day 3 you need to start practicing with dealing with the cravings.  Deny yourself a cigarette and see what you can do to help resist the temptation to smoke.  Day 4 and you need to deny yourself a few more cigarettes to really get a feel for what to expect when your quit date arrives.  Employ some of the tools we’ve discussed to see which are the most effective in helping you along.

Best Way To Quit Smoking Involves Practice

As your quit date approaches keep practicing.  Also remember that if you tend to find yourself in social situations with other smokers you will obviously need to avoid that type of scenario.  Make sure that any of your family, friends or colleagues who are smokers understands that you have chosen to quit the habit and to therefore consider this fact when they are around you.  Take charge of your life and find the Best Way To Quit Smoking!

Hello! I have just registered at http://www.healthierpost.com and I love it so far. I just want to tell you about myself and how I recently quit smoking with the help of an electronic cigarette. Electronic cigarettes have been on the market for quite some time and have been endorsed by celebrities and promoted in different ways. I was hesitant at first to spend over $100 to try, but I found a free trial offer at http://eliteecigs.com/ . I ordered Regal electronic cigarettes and received my free trial a few days later. I can tell you that I will never go back to smoking regular tobacco. Now I do not have yellow teeth and bath breath and I feel myself way better. I also stopped coughing. I am not trying to promote smoking, not http://eliteecigs.com/ , I just want to share my personal experience with people who have not heard about electronic cigarettes before and cannot quit smoking. Thank you for your time. I hope moderators will leave my post intact as it might be useful to other people.
